Information to Include when Requesting a Print Quote from a Professional Printer

Getting a piece printed can be a long and daunting task, but well worth the effort when you see the finished product. As some people may be new to getting items printed from a professional print retailer, it can be relatively simple if you know how to initiate the process. If you can provide accurate information from the beginning, the process timeline can be shortened and frustration can be reduced. Include the following information in your initial request for a quote.

Number of Pieces
Include the number of pieces that you are planning to print. This number will impact the total cost. The more precise you are, the closer the final cost will be to the quote given by the printer.

Number of Colors
Include the number of colors you would like to have in the piece. This will affect the price of the finished product. More colors mean the overall price will be higher.

Size of Piece
Be sure to include the size of the piece you want a quote for. Many times a printer will have standard sizes to choose from. Research the printer and view the sizes they offer. If the size of the piece you are printing is a custom size, it will likely cost more, but this may prove to be a very good incremental investment.

Budget
Include your total budget so the printer has an idea of what they are working with. If what you are asking for is above your budget, they will let you know and work with you to find something that will be more achievable.

Project Deadline
Make sure to let the printer know when your final due date is. If it happens to be a rush job, it will cost extra. The extra cost comes from shipping and the amount of work involved in pushing your work to the front of the line.

Contact Information
Include the most up to date contact information. Information to include should be the primary contact, secondary contact, phone numbers and email addresses.
