Magnetic strips and perhaps signature panels are the options most used on plastic fundraising Card printing. The mag stripe is used to encode each gift card with a unique number Ð not an actual dollar value of the card. The mag strip also can be encoded with other information about your program important to participating merchants. If you do not have a system for encoding your fundraising cards, our customer service might be able to match you up with a fundraising card solution provider.
Though not often used in fundraiser card printing, a signature panel can provide a way to prove that the fundraising card belongs to the card holder. Answer the questions below to determine the options you need on you fundraising cards:
Fundraising Card questions:
Do I need to store data on a mag stripe (like card value and redemption info) on a mag stripe?
Will merchants or our group need to verify who the card holder is?
Do our fundraising cards require a barcode for distribution or tracking?
How frequently will the card holder use the card?
Is the card re-chargeable, 1 time use, or fixed value?
Do you currently have gift card processing capabilities?
Does your gift card processing call for magstriped, barcoded or just numbered cards?
For example, if the plastic card will be used for repeat purchases - can it be re-charged or does it store data that indicates the card balance to merchant systems? If so, you'll need a mag stripe. |
