Die Cut Labels - Design
Die cut labels are the perfect canvas for almost any label design. By definition, die cut labels are cut from pre-sized dies into certain pre-sized label shapes. Die cut labels design should include these important considerations: what size of labels are available to fit my design and will my design include fewer than 4 colors or will my need for photos or more than four ink colors require CMYK label printing.
Selecting a die cut labels size before you start your design will save you time and money on the ordering side of your project. Determining the kind of printing you need at the start of your design will also have some impact of the size and cost of your labels. As an example, not all standard label sizes are available for CMYK (printing with full color photos). Once you know your label size and printing method, be sure you plan for bleeds. My1Stop® can print almost any die cut labels design from your artwork.

Die Cut Labels - Shapes and Sizes
My1Stop® recommends that you start your design with one of our 50 plus standard die cut labels sizes. Choosing a standard die size will cut your costs and reduce turnaround time. Opting for a non-standard or custom die gives you almost unlimited size and shape options but at a premium price and much longer deliveries schedules.
The size of your die cut labels should be determined by these factors:
- What label size best fits your die cut label design?
- What is the smallest area that your labels will be applied to? Make sure you pick a size that fits that area.
As you can see, die cut labels design and die cut labels size must work well together. As recommended before, choose your label size before starting your design - with an eye for the smallest area you will have available to apply your labels. Our standard die cut label sizes will work well for most applications.

Barcodes and numbering for die cut labels printing. Our most commonly printed bar codes are 3 of 9 barcodes. This is what most barcode scanners read. It is the most popular barcode scanning symbology next to UPC codes. UPC codes are printed in black and are considered artwork rather than numbering. We also offer the less popular Code 128, Code 2 of 5 and no barcode as options. Human readable numbers are also available and can match your optically scanable barcode. This helps for a quick reference when not using a scanner.
Our barcodes and numbers are mechanically printed with the highest available black-to-white printing ratios for optimal barcode readability.
Laminates - Laminates are chosen by the duty you need them to perform. My1Stop® offers different laminates for resistance to abrasion, resistance to moisture, and resistance to UV light fading. Laminating your die cut labels will provide additional protection and can add a glossier look to your graphics.
Roll unwind direction choices - Roll unwind direction is a choice you can make to determine which direction your artwork will be printed on the die cut labels - and how the labels will be unwound from the cardboard roll core. My1Stop® offers 8 different label unwind positions which can be selected as you get your instant online price.
